The Ferca Mould system is a reference in the execution of ribbed flat slabs. Creating a bidirectional or unidirectional rib mesh, they are extremely effective in reducing slabs running costs, not only by the decrease of concrete and steel consumption but also for system turnover, which reduces material and labor costs associated with the formwork.

Benefits

  • Decreased consumption of concrete and steel
  • Execution of large spans with reduced concrete consumption
  • Recovery of the molds on the third day after concreting the slab, enabling its reuse
  • REBAR and vertical elements cross-section economy thanks to the self-weight reduction
  • Reduction of the needs of specific punching shear reinforcements

Finish
Concrete surfaces in contact with the mould do not require any particular finish, since they are generally very regular. It should be given particular attention to the joints between the moulds and the rails where sometimes may be necessary to eliminate irregularities in order to get the best quality in finishing.

Fire resistance
The cross-sections of the ribs resulting from the application of moulds can be widened, increasing the fire resistance to over 2 hours.

Construction Safety
All the shoring must be properly tightened and moulds should be locked against each other, so there is no movement as well as to allow better finish.

Maintenance and general information
It is advisable to spray the moulds with release agents prior to placement. Shortly after the moulds release they should be cleaned with water and non-abrasive materials. To demould, moulds corner should not be forced. If they break, the moulds must be returned for repair. When not in use, they should be stored upright, standing on the widest brim and fitted in series. The vibrator size for casting should not exceed 40 mm in diameter, and preferably should have a protective rubber sleeve.

Material tolerance

Propylene undergoes expansion and contraction due to thermal stresses, being admissible dimensional variations of 1%.
